Overview
The tour will start in the most famous area of Lima – Miraflores. The famous Park of Love is located here, where stands a very beautiful Statue of Love. From here you can see all the splendor of the Pacific Ocean. Here you will spend some time enjoying the views and the sea air, and have some walks around the park.
From the tourist center of the city, you will go to its historical part. On the way, you will pass the road of the Olivar Park, where the age of olive trees goes back hundreds of years. You will also visit the excavations of Huaca Pucllana. The pyramid was constructed using sand blocks placed on seven platforms. Important to realize that this place was an important ceremonial place. Presently the scientist’s opinion is that Huaca Pucllana belongs to the Culture Wari dated 500 – 1000 AD.
You will start our acquaintance with the historical center of Lima from San Martin Square. This square was inaugurated in 1921 for the 100th anniversary of the independence of Peru. Most important to notice is that the famous Gran Hotel Bolivar was built here in 1924, where the most important people stayed.
Next, you will visit the Main Square (Plaza de Armas). Here you will admire the Presidential Palace, the Municipality, the Cathedral, and the Cathedrals of San Francisco and Santo Domingo.
The guide will tell you many interesting facts about the city, the era of the conquistadors, and the liberation of Peru. Next, you will go to see what is left of the Rimac River and visit the “Parque de la Muralla”. If there is time, you will walk along other streets of the center. We recommend starting this tour at 10:00 am, so that before returning to the hotel you have time to see the changing of the guard at the presidential palace.
