Overview

To begin with, Lake Titicaca is the highest navigable lake in the world, located in the Puno region. You will visit the home of the legendary Uros people who live on floating reed islands. Also, you will visit the famous textile community of Taquile Island.

Traveling to Puno has become popular with tourist bus services. As well there are flights from Arequipa, Lima, and Cusco to Juliaca Airport, located 45 minutes north of Puno. If you need help organizing your trip to Puno, just contact us for more information.

In reality, the Puno region has “all the seasons in one day” so you should have a warm hat and close, but not obligatory.

Due to that, the region is located at an altitude of over 3800 m, we recommend arriving in Puno 1 day before. So that you start to acclimatize to the altitude. Therefore, you can feel a slight discomfort upon arrival.

First of all, you will take a motorboat to the islands of Uros, where you can observe the life of people who live on floating reed islands. Mostly these islands are only 20 meters long and wide. Local people will explain and show you how they live, and their habits.

Once you finish presenting the floating islands, then you will start a journey to the natural island. After a wonderful 2-hour boat ride, you will reach Taquile Island where you will take a tour of the historical ruins and visit its inhabitants. They are world-famous for their textile craftsmanship because here only men are doing this job. By the way, all products are handmade with natural wool and have very high quality.

  • First of all, we will pick you up from your hotel at 7 am to bring you to the Lake Port, where you will start your tour.
  • On the Private boat, you will reach at 9 am one of the Uros islands, which belongs to one of the families of the Uros community. Here, you will enjoy the presentation of the family about – the construction technology of their island, and how they live, and you will have an opportunity for a small journey on the handmade boat.
  • Next, you will reach at 12 pm the natural island Taquile. The main activity of the local tribe is textile – the Men of Taquile has a presentation for you.
  • At 1 pm, you will have lunch in one of the local restaurants with an outstanding view of Lake Titikaka.
  • And to conclude, you will have a small journey directing to the lake port. Arrive at 3 pm approx.
  • We will meet in the port to bring you back to your hotel.
